And it's possible that if I hadn't had that experience, there would be no book.

Yeah, yeah, absolutely.

And a lot of my life has been a gift.

And I don't want to say that trauma is a gift because it's not.

It's painful and no one deserves it.

And I wish that there were things that I went through that I didn't go through.

But-

we come out of them with a strength that we didn't have going in.

So I look at most of the things that I've been through in my life as a path to get to where I am today.

Well, you know, at first I had, when I came back from Hawaii, I had to finish school and I went back to college and, um, I took, um, communications, I took screenwriting and for my final, I wrote like a screenplay.

And I remember going to my professor and doing this final review and she looked at me and she was like, that's true story, isn't it?

And I looked at her and I was like, nope, like I was not ready to tell anyone that it was a true story.

Um, and.

In fact, I just kind of like left there, you know, totally freaked out, but she said to me, well, it's really good.

And so that stuck with me.

And then I would say about 10 years ago, I started to think more about it and wanted to get back in it.

And I realized it's really a memoir because, you know, a screenplay is a show and, you know, but this is really what this is.

And so, you know, the first thing I did was probably...

a year or two of voice notes, voice memos where I'd be, you know, working or doing things.

And just, I had to remember everything.
