And what we could do is take living things and kill them and measure the drop in aliveness.

what we are showing is any given environment can print chemistry from the outside into the inside.
And yes, you can show something as intricate as a carbohydrate, as intricate as all the molecules we talked about, but that information comes from evolution.
It is happenstance.
It is contingent.
It's a bit like if you buy a brand new car and you drive around the world and you bump it and you get dents in the car.
