It has real long-term consequences for a community when you not only politicize law enforcement and the National Guard, but you occupy a city and send dangerous messages to people in that city and around the area.
It hurts the economy, which we also know hurts public safety.
And so...
Delawareans know full well the dangerous consequences that come when you do this.
And I believe that that's one of the reasons why, even though almost every American wants to see crime go down, why most Americans oppose the politicization of law enforcement and the National Guard in the way that we're seeing right now.
Yeah, absolutely.
I think people...
People are rightfully scared, they're rightfully outraged, and they want to see all of us in elected office do as much as we can.
That means fighting fire with fire.
I think what we're seeing right now at the state level in response to the redistricting efforts, mid-decade redistricting efforts in places like Texas, that's incredibly appropriate.
I think the reality is, is that to fight fire with fire, we need more levers at our disposal, right?
We need to win the midterms.
We here are doing what we can to use parliamentary procedures to slow down Republicans in Congress and the administration to sound the alarm.
But until we can call committee hearings, until we have those gavels, until we can control the floor and pass legislation,
We're not going to have the levers at our disposal necessary to effectively push back in the way that all of us want to push back.
But look, I think we've got to be strong.
We've got to fight.
We've got to fight fire with fire.
And we've also got to recognize that with everything on the line right now, we are going to have to build a mass movement to defeat Trump.
It's not going to be politicians in Washington or even politicians who control states.
