Allowing that micro damage to be repaired by having that rest day makes your body incredibly efficient.
Whereas if I had just left it, then that's where you're potentially at risk of more significant injury.
Did you build, did you use the 10% rule when you were building up to Hurwood?
if it's in week five, you'd drop it down to your first week's mileage, wouldn't you, in that block?
And then you'd probably have a second deload week where you'd drop it down to about half of where you were at.
Because it's not always a case of you drop it down to week one if you're doing it later on in your training plan.
In the deload?
So it'd be splitting in half.
Okay, those figures scare me.
You just wait till you're back in training.
My week four drops back down, my long run drops back down to 7.5K, whereas week three, it was 12K.
But then if you fast forward another four weeks, I'm up to 32K on week 11, whereas week 12 drops down to 21.
Yeah, that's exactly what Sarah said.
But if you're listening to this and you're training for a major event at the moment, whether it's a half marathon, marathon, 10K, whatever, you are in the right place because this information about deloading and 10% rules is something I wish I had in 2017.
I cannot believe, looking back, how ill-prepared and idiotic I was.
I was going into that race.
The marathon.
I cannot believe, I didn't have any of this knowledge.
I didn't have, the deload, I probably in 2017 would have struggled to spell it.
Yes, mate.
