What is also interesting is that um other substances in that um fluid you take in in that sports drink or that
uh electrolyte drink or whatever might disrupt this process because the membrane, we call it tonicity, uh, is also like a a a gatekeeper for substances that your your body doesn't want, something like sweeteners or artificial colorings or aromas.
And this might actually lead to non-absorbing the the fluid so well.
So that's also important.
Important.
But in general, if you have a good sports drink that has not a too high osmotic concentration and is free of those substances, then you can take up that fluid pretty well.
If it has a little bit of sodium, it might help.
It's not absolutely necessary because sodium also increases the osmotic concentration.
But it can help a little bit, just
keep that balance in the body and then everything works well.
If you take a we call it um hypertonic solution, like for example uh a coke or so that is a high
um concentration of sugars, of simple sugars like glucose and fructose, um then it might be a problem because the body needs to dilute this solution to be able to take it up.
And if this soda or solution also has, like I said, other substances, this might further uh increase the problem of uptaking that
that fluid.
So the ideal spot strength is not too concentrated, is free of those substances I mentioned.
And also the glucose part of it is not glucose itself, but is for example maltodextrin, because the specific weight of maltodextrin is lower than than glucose.
So you can pack more sugar in a solution from maltodextrin than for
From glucose when you compare it with the osmotic concentration.
So um yeah, I think these are the the most important topics.
And then when you
