Um that strikes me as a as a deep insight, uh go critical but sympathetic insight.
Um so but but
uh let's sort of go to the the the the beginnings of the more positive account.
Um so the third and fourth chapters lay out um your your view of of of social and moral progress.
Um and you draw on uh a hero of us both, John Dewey.
um in developing this idea of joint flourishing, um, which in turn sort of invokes a conception that you call deep satisfaction.
Could you lay out the the the broad strokes of the of the of the the positive picture of progress that you're working with?

Um so that that was that was a very nice encapsulation.

Now th the way so the thesis of the book then is that
Um uh perhaps among um uh plausible alternatives, um maybe it's stronger than plausible and it's possible alternatives.
Um democracy does better at fostering uh uh this kind of um uh joint flourishing.
Um
Now the way that you make the argument for the book is in keeping with again the pragmatist spirit, um, because you you're interested in some um
uh some actual cases, um uh some real world uh cases of progress or um uh places where uh cases where progress has uh has stalled or or or fallen short.
Um the touchstone cases, as you mentioned a moment ago, are marriage equality, uh school desegregation in the United States, and uh workplace integration in the United States.
