alliances at risk.

The senator among a number of Democrats and Republicans criticizing President Trump's letter to Norway demanding control of Greenland while also criticizing the country for not awarding him the Nobel Peace Prize.

The president is prioritizing annexing the island, claiming its location is critical for national security and citing an abundance of critical minerals.

There was no mention of the internal dispute at CBS News between correspondent Sharon Alfonsi and editor-in-chief Barry Weiss when the network aired the story Sunday on the Trump administration's deportations to El Salvador's notorious Seacott prison.

While the final report didn't include on-camera interviews with Trump administration officials, it did include statements that weren't in the initial piece.

CBS News says it always planned to air the report as soon as it was ready.

Though in internal emails to her colleagues, Alfonsi says the move to pull the story was, quote, not an editorial decision, it was a political one.

Weiss had argued the report did not sufficiently reflect the administration's viewpoint or advance previous reporting.
