And not knowing what that looks like can be scary.
So it's like, you know, if I forgive this person, what will be different?
Will we just go back to how things were?
And
I think there's such a bigger conversation around the forgiveness piece because I can forgive, but that doesn't mean that there are now not different things happening in this relationship in order to repair.
And maybe it's highlighted, maybe what happened highlighted some dynamics that weren't working well that are going to need to be different for us to continue and move forward with this.
Look, yeah, I can think of a few couples that I, yeah, have come in and it's like, yep.
So, um, my partner cheated, but you know, we're working through it and it's going really well and dah, dah, dah.
And this is like two weeks after.
And I'm going, whoa.
Oh, okay.
Like that's interesting in itself.
You know, what's going on here?
There's this real push for everything being fine, everything is okay, you know.
And I think that is, again, that protective mechanism.
It protects me to tell myself and minimize this and tell myself that it doesn't really hurt that bad or it wasn't as bad as it was or that, you know, it'll be different.
So this kind of like semi-denial or sort of sweeping of things.
can mean that we set ourselves up to be hurt again.
Yeah.
Because we don't actually do the proper work to change anything or get to the root of the problem.
