In terms of the debt profile, our competitiveness, we're sinking.
And we've descended into internal chaos and mudslinging.
And we haven't had a serious policy debate for decades, it feels like.
Nothing serious to help grow the pie.
So we must, over this next period...
develop the most ambitious policy for business taxation, individual taxation.
We've got to be serious about budget restraint.
The idea that we keep on announcing policies which are unfunded, people know it's bullshit.
People are onto us.
And so we've got to show exactly what we would be prepared to cut.
There's been a sense in Parliament House that, well, you couldn't announce what you're going to cut because no one will vote for you.
But I just think we've got to treat people more seriously.
I mean, they're not children.
We've got to be honest with the electorate and say what we would not proceed with and how we would improve the tax system to incentivize work and wealth creation.
That is the essential work.
That's right.
And I think, like, you know, at the end of the day, if you can have a platform which is going to relieve the repressive pay-as-you-go system, incentivise people to invest in
and show that you can get the budget into a position where your children won't be paying for today's bills, then I think that's a lot of the work that needs to be done.
And I think people will say, yeah, actually, that's what I'm looking for.
And then more generally, people just want also, I think, kindness.
