They're starting to be very well understood that taxes have to go up to pay for the deficits and the debt.
So I think we're coming into the territory now where we need to be.
They have a sensible debate about what actually can we remove.
And yes, there'll be a scare campaign, but I think bring it on.
Bring it on because the government has its backside out of its pants in a fiscal sense and people are looking for ambitious tax changes.
I mean, who would argue that the pay-as-you-go system in Australia isn't completely busted?
I mean, top tax rate is way too high.
The tax rate on the middle income earners is too high.
And if Labor get this new tax through with the Greens, which I imagine they will, you'll also have a very high tax or the highest tax on capital in the OECD.
There's a whole lot of things we have to get rid of that Canberra shouldn't be doing.
Right.
whether it's the housing fund or the reconstruction fund or the rewiring the nation fund or whatever, there's all those things.
And then there's going to be recurrent expenditure.
There's going to be giveaways that we can't afford to give away anymore.
Like for example, the 5% deposit scheme is not means tested.
Why are we giving away taxpayer funds to people who don't need taxpayer support?
Uh,
So we have to go through and nominate what we would get rid of.
There was this huge scare campaign around, oh, we wouldn't have any changes to health or education because we worry that people won't vote for us.
People aren't voting for us anyway.
