So you've got to be disciplined and say, we're not going to have any more new rules.

We're going to review the ones we've got and get rid of a whole bunch of them.

Now, for example, we've announced in the budget reply, Angus Taylor announced that we would cut the National Construction Code, which determines how houses are built in Australia from 2,000 to 200 pages.

Now-

When the NCC started in 1988, it was 200 pages and it was just about safety, like floods, fires, making sure the thing doesn't burn down or flood.

Now it's got every single thing.

Every house in Australia is built as if you're disabled or as if you've got all sorts of problems.

And so that's a good example of the rent seekers and vested interests sticking their noses into regulation.

So, like, we are a poorly run country.

We have allowed a whole lot of vested interests to write laws and regulations for their own vested interests.

The rule books are unreadable.

I mean, for example, if you are a regular home builder in Australia, you have no...

ability to read the National Construction Code, which governs your own industry.

I mean, that shows the sickness that we have in Australia.

So we need a revolution.

I think we need to see a revolution when it comes to regulation, a revolution when it comes to tax.

We've got to get back to a pro-enterprise approach.

It's very hard to make a buck out of housing in Australia, and that's not something the politicians talk about, but that's the only way you can build out of the crisis.

I mean, you can't have a government housing scheme that's going to give all the houses that we need.

I mean, we need to be getting to over a quarter of a million houses in Australia each year, and the only way to do it is with private developers, tradies, and builders.
