It's why the mother at the drop off at crash with that crying child can't shake it off.

No, we're not meant to.

You know your baby is somewhere in distress and you are showing up to the board meeting being like, I have to pretend like this didn't happen and that this isn't breaking my heart because somehow I can't be both versions of me.

Come on now.

It's still not enough.

And yet I go back to what I said in the beginning, which is that we have arrived at this very fortunate timeline in history where women have finally gained a little bit of access.

And I'm so afraid of, even in my own life, I leaned heavily on my... So my second baby was in lockdown and I was eight weeks pregnant when we went into lockdown.

And so when she was born, again, like you, I had the grace of being able to always have that physical at-homeness and the world didn't think that that was odd or strange and shamed me for it.

But I am afraid too of...

like if we all step back for too long, what might happen?

Do the gates close and the world moves forward without us again?

And so I'm really conflicted as to, you know, I have two daughters and I think of what will happen if and when they are older and mothers.

I just want to do enough in my time to make it better for them so that when they arrive into motherhood, that there is something easier or more fair or more understood for them than for us.

But I look at it and I go, with all the advancements and pace and I mean, God knows, will there even be employment with AI now?

But I just feel I still don't know how to tell them what that balance would look like other than listen to your own instincts.

Although I did see this terrific video of a robot trying to feed a baby a bottle and I was like, would you stop?

Just stop.

Like of all the jobs I want you to take off me.
