Because this culture born...
Of the Cold War, where the threat was so obvious and we were having our hats handed to us, is so steeply ingrained in the fabric of the community that for all the pressure on it, it keeps on saying what is.
And in fact, some of the things that have happened...
when that reality that they try and portray is misused, now you're seeing it get more out in the world.
And there are more and more people who can put other pieces of information together to show that same truth.
There are commercial satellites that show the same images that I think it threatens him because he can't change that.
It just exists.
And man, that is hard to manipulate.
What he counts on is the integrity of the institution that don't go running out and undermining him in the same way.
You know, you read my resignation letter and that's what I was trying to do.
I wanted to bolster my community to keep on being who it was.
Mm-hmm.
He doesn't seem to have been successful in stopping them from their jobs, but he is working hard to making it harder for them to be human and do their jobs.
How?
They have to make choices about their lives.
How many of my colleagues have, for no apparent reason, lost their security clearances and their livelihoods over a mistruth?
And not people like me that it doesn't really matter because I'm kind of in bonus time, but I'm talking about people who are still trying to figure out how they're going to get their kids through school.
And if you see that happening to people and you're still in the community...
I don't know.
