When that building approval's released um you can uh work out an implied value of a building approval and uh just worth um mapping that against that that new dwelling purchase price, and uh uh at least the late the last data had um average approval values increasing eight point five percent year on year, and uh you look at the annual growth rate of new dwelling purchase prices out of the CPI and they're barely at one percent.
So
Suggest there's a little bit of upside risk still to that CPI component there.
Um as for retail sales, uh our internal transactions data suggests a fairly strong read.
So we've penciled in a 1% month-to-month increase.
The consensus there looks for 0.4%.
Um just worth noting as well, uh RBA Deputy Governor Houser uh is uh speaking this morning and uh if the RBA wishes to guide uh the interpretation of that Q2
CPI, then that provides ample opportunity as well.
Uh yes, so uh the consensus there doesn't look uh very ambitious there.
And actually when you look at the non manufacturing PMI consensus, it's at fifty point two.
Um but I think to some extent this month's PMIs is gonna be slightly less market moving than usual, just given uh China does seem to be moving ahead with some large scale s stimulus, although the most recent Politburo um disappointed expectations there.
So you've got that one big example being the Yalung
uh Sangpo mega dam project.
Mm and so that did help drive iron ore prices last week.
Um no.
We think the Bank of Japan is going to keep policy on hold at this meeting.
Um but a hike by the end of the year is becoming more priced by markets.
Uh and uh at least if that uh tentative uh trade deal with the US holds, um then that should provide a little bit more confidence for the economy just given uh where inflationary pressures are at the moment.
yes, so uh obviously uh all that uh jobs data is going to be looked at quite closely there.
Uh for me jobs claims is probably the one to look at still.
