Yes it does suggest that the economy is slowing.
So when you look at final sales to private domestic purchases, so that's the sum of consumption and fixed investment.
So those categories that you were just talking about there, that rose just one point two percent annualized in Q two after a one point nine percent gain in Q one.
So it does suggest that the US economy
is uh slowing but of uh but that's not showing up in the labour market.
So the labour market uh is still remaining relatively tight there and uh we're still unclear on the inflation uh effects at the moment.
Indeed when you look at the core PC deflato that was uh two point five percent from uh two point three percent expected there.
So uh I guess o overall GDP numbers suggest a still resilient US economy, though a US economy that is still like likely to s likely to slow.
And I guess from a currency perspective, what a lot of people like to do is compare the growth rates of what's going on in uh the the US and what's going on in Europe.
And obviously uh sometimes it's a little bit hard to compare those aggregates there.
So uh the US reports headline at a quarterly annualised basis and the Europeans report it on a quarterly change basis.
So um the differences sound quite stark.
So uh European GDP rose zero point one percent in Q two.
Q on Q, uh that was a touch higher than the flat result expected.
Uh but when you look at the year on year growth rate, um the Euro area grew by one point four percent year on year.
And you look at the year on year growth rate for the US and that grew by two percent.
So it's quite clear the US economy is outperforming the European economy and uh no surprises there why I see the US dollar higher in this environment and why the euro is also lower.
