So I think the way that she lived her life was so revolutionary that she didn't actually feel the need to like opine about it that much.

Yeah, her commitment to hedonism is, I think, so admirable.

Yeah, there is one section where she's like, yeah, we both really had upset stomachs and couldn't keep anything down.

And then we were like, oh, is it because all we eat is heavy cream and wine?

I think a lot about that paragraph.

And that also reminds me of another thing, a parallel I find between her and Ina is that they're both child-free.

Which is so, I think, unexpected for someone who makes their life and who makes their art around essentially homemaking.

Exactly.

And I think it's sort of piercing through that narrative of that's being served to us now through like trad wife content.

That it's all doable.

Right.

These women are like, it's absolutely not.

All I was obsessed with is how to make a beef bourguignon.

There was no time to change diapers.

I was in the kitchen 12 hours a day or whatever, you know.

And so I think there's an honesty there.

And I also do think she's being honest in having read this memoir that she did feel that she led a fulfilling life.

And at one point she refers to her cookbook as her firstborn child.

And as a creative person, I think I do relate to that.
