That's still a good season.

Still what the Mets would want at the top of their rotation.

But instead, you know,

Gives up two runs in four innings yesterday to sneak that ERA under five.

Really, since the start of July, it's just been a really tough stretch for him.

You know, his arm angle is down, so he's not getting kind of the life on his fastball that he's used to.

And as much as he's diversified from the fastball Freddy personality that he was at the start of his career, where he was just pumping 75% fastballs, he still needs that pitch to succeed.

So I think, you know...

Certainly, the Mets are not going to get back what they dealt for him.

Even if he were having his characteristic season, they weren't going to get two top 100 prospects back for him for two months.

But I compared it to kind of where Lucas Chialito was when the Angels made the trade for him in 2023, kind of that last-ditch effort they had when Otani was still on the roster.

And, you know, they got...

The White Sox got one top 100 prospect and another kind of double A arm.

I think maybe if the Mets were to package Peralta with one of those relievers, maybe they can get something similar to that back, kind of a borderline top 100 prospect and another guy who could help maybe as a reliever in the future, that kind of move.

But it's definitely not what you would have thought they would get at the start of the season if you were playing this out.

Yeah, I think it's a lot of factors that would inspire a team to do that.

It's A, that desire to contend right away again in 2027.

B, it's a subpar free agent market.

If you don't feel confident you're going to sign Tarek Skubal, I don't know who the game-changing free agent is this winter for you.

And see, it's the labor uncertainty where you don't know kind of what the rules you're going to be playing under next March are going to be.
