You don't know when when that season is going to start.

You don't know how the preseason is going to play out.

You know, last time this happened in 21 into 22.

So a lot of guys signed for big money right before the lockout.

That was like when Corey Seager and Marcus Semien and Max Scherzer all signed big deals.

I don't know that we're going to get that same kind of rush this time.

And certainly probably not for that much money going into it because of the unknown going into it.

So I do think this is an opportunity for some sellers to act as buyers.

The problem is the market's not great for that because there are so many teams trying to buy.

But, you know, I wrote a piece today that said that the Mets should really look at Reed Detmers from the Angels closely.

The Angels are the toughest team at the deadline to predict what they're going to do any given year.

Maybe it's a little bit different now that they've got John Moseliak, the longtime Cardinals GM, as an interim after they fired Perry Manasian.

Maybe he's kind of empowered to do something a little bit different and trade some guys with team control left, like Detmers, like Jose Soriano.

That would change the way the market looks.

And Detmers, for sure, is a guy who...

And he's kind of broken out this year, but maybe could break out on top of that next year.

You look at his numbers, he reminds me a lot of what it was like to cover Zach Wheeler in 2018 and 2019, where you're like, this guy's pretty good right now, but I think there's another level in him.

And certainly we've seen the way that worked out for the Phillies and not for the Mets when they let Wheeler walk after 2019.

So I think Detmers would be a guy that if I'm the Mets, if I'm Toronto, if I'm any of those teams that we've talked about that

that feel like they're a year early, like Miami and Washington and the White Sox and the Cardinals, is a guy who works for helping you this season and then helping you even more in 27 and 28.
