They tried to intervene in the disciplinary proceedings and were told that they weren't able to attend, but they would have been providing information to the EFL.

Because there's restrictions under the EFL regulations as to how clubs can intervene in different proceedings.

And they have to show that they are sufficiently linked or sufficiently affected by the outcome of the case.

You would think by reading that, how could they not be affected by the outcome of this case?
