And it is not an act.
This is not a habit of arrogance, but to really know what do I really truly love about me?
It's important that you write that list because
The other, you've got to remember that your inner narrative is biased.
So if you were to watch a movie where the narrator only tells half the story, that would be a terrible movie.
Every mistake is highlighted, every awkward moment is replayed in slow motion, every criticism saved forever, every success explained away, every moment of courage, like it's fast forwarded or forgotten.
It's exactly what most of us do to ourselves.
Our inner narrative isn't objective because we have not trained it that way.
We've trained it to be biased.
We've trained it because of our natural negativity bias to zoom in on mistakes and flaws and zoom out on our strengths, assuming, oh, well, that's just how I am.
And because of that, it believes criticism more than compliments.
It assumes the worst and then presents that as fact.
And so if you've been listening to that inner narrative, that narrator for years, it's time that you stop.
It's time that you start questioning it.
It's your narrator.
It's another analogy that I think is really helpful here is that your inner narrator is like the algorithm on social media.
It shows you more of what you spend time looking at.
