The juvenile's behavior on that particular encounter and also their full juvenile history of any charges, investigations, or arrests.
One of the first factors that officers will consider after they look into the juvenile's history is whether or not diversion is an option.
Diversion would mean sending that juvenile to some sort of youth program.
In Charlotte to look at their behavior and look at the sort of overall holistic view of that juvenile to make sure that they stay on the right track and complete that program in order to avoid any juvenile charges.
And so they will review their arrest history and especially for six that's for six years old through 17-year-olds, those are the ages that are subject to juvenile law.
And they will look at those prior arrests.

PD policy if the juvenile has a history of any prior arrest, they would not be subject to
seeking a diversion program based on that policy.
However, whether or not C and PD officers were to divert the juvenile to a youth program, the Department of Juvenile Justice and the juvenile court counselors in the court system could still send that juvenile to a diversion program prior to it getting to the courthouse.
And let's say that the juvenile court counselor chooses not to send the youth to a diversion program.
The district court judge in juvenile courts still has a the
final decision to decide whether or not they will send that particular youth to a diversion program as well.
And that applies for curfew violations or any sort sort of violation that is um not divertible.

One of the decisions or things that an officer will have to determine is whether or not they need a secure custody order.
