But the juvenile arrest generally involves um the juvenile's parent or guardian being called to pick them up.

And if there's a secure custody order.

Then that juvenile would be transported to the secure facility after that juvenile arrest.

And with that I will turn it over to Doctor Stewart to talk about our spaces for youth opportunities.

Good evening, Mayor, Manager, Members of Council, Rakeisha Lis Stewart, Office of Youth Opportunities.

I wanted to take a moment to share some things that I shared in our previous meeting.

on august tenth as it relates to what the Office of Youth Opportunities has been doing as it relates to third spaces.

So we were a little bit ahead of the game as we have been working with third spaces for over a year.

We've had a great partnership with the YMCA where from uh June to December we were able to provide 200 passes to all of the Ys across Charlotte.

And then this year we were able to create a great partnership with Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation, where we were able to provide 250 passes.

uh to the rec center and we're working on expanding that.

I also want to share that Chief Patterson and I on last Tuesday had a great meeting with the CEO of the Y and her team to discuss what we can do to partner to

Reimagine third spaces for our youth.

So we left out of the meeting.

Feeling very good about some opportunities and my team and I are now working on ideating a pilot with the YMCA to offer third spaces over the next ten months.

Um some of the additional things that we're doing as it relates to third spaces is I did mention we have a partnership grant that we are working on finalizing.

So once I have an opportunity to get that to my leadership.

The goal is to have that out before the end of September.

This will give us an opportunity to work with other partners across the city to create additional third spaces for our youth.
