So yeah, it took me eight years.

It's embarrassing really, isn't it?

And I spent eight years

pretending to be drunk, which is really bad because it takes a lot of effort when you're sober to still be a drunk person without any alcohol.

And it was in fact absolutely tiring.

And I think I've kind of pretended for a long time to

Go, yes, I can do this.

And with my job and with everything that I do, I'm I'm gonna carry this sober mantle high and be like, look, I can still go out, I can still party, I can still be in a pub or a brewery or a wedding or a wake, no matter what, and I can still have fun.

Look at me.

And I almost thought that it was kind of my responsibility to be the sober person and pro.

prove to everybody else that you could still have fun.

I I kind of took on that role.

as the epitome of what a person who is not drinking and still having fun to be, which was exactly the same as who I was when I was a drinker.

So the mask was still up, and it has been for a very, very long time, because I felt that that was my new way to fit in was to prove a point, but still be there, still be out, still be the people pleaser to some extent.

and still be staying out with friends in an environment where I wasn't happy because I felt like that was the right thing to do.

And it was absolutely bloody exhausting, Dave, to be honest.

And it's taken me that long to realise that isn't who I am and that there is a whole nother part of me that is still in me

ready to kind of thrive, I hope, but it's taking me a very wiggly path to get to that point.

Well, I think I've had a lot of problems with friendships because I mean, friendships are hard when you go sober.

Everybody knows that.
