So when I started, I felt like the CFO was the person that was, you know, leading the finances that were in the office most of the time.
Today, the CFO has to know so much more than just accounting and finance.
You have to understand marketing, HR, like you are asked to lead more.
So at some point I had IT reporting to me.
I wasn't even a CFO yet.
Like the office of the CFO itself really expanded to include IT, to include HR.
You are asked to, your viewpoint is valuable in all these aspects of the business because you see the numbers.
So it's no longer, oh, I'm just going to collect all the transactions and give you the report.
Because you see the numbers, you should be able to also forecast and predict the numbers and see how certain decisions in marketing will either accelerate your growth or hinder your growth or whether it came from go to market or it came from sales or it came from IT.
So because you have that unique viewpoint, you're now like the number two to the CEO more than it used to be sales.
And so you have to be, so usually the CEO will pretty much consult the CFO on, okay, does it make sense financially?
Because now we know you know the numbers.
We don't want any bad surprises.
So this new sales initiative, does it make sense?
Like, do we have the money?
Is it going to make us more broke?
Is it going to make us more competitive?
So you are pulling all those strategy conversations and not just how was the audit?
How was this compliance?
How was submitting to the SEC?
