So it really started with how you show up and what you're and how early you're able to establish you.
It's how your expertise is going to help them.
Because at the end of the day, when you come in and you come into the board, you're here to help.
It's really having that idea that I'm going to be a business partner.
I'm not going to be against fighting against you.
We're going to work together to achieve our goals.
So it's very important to come in and truly listen to what it is that keeps them up at night.
What is it that they're worried about?
Like really have like your first 90 days, really listen in what's going on to really understand.
And while you're listening to them at the same time, you really have to go deep into your own finance and accounting that you inherited, the function you inherited.
To understand, OK, why are things the way they are?
Because there is always a reason why.
That when people say, oh, this is very mine, like there is a reason why it's this way.
Somebody at some point had to go through something and they established this process.
It's almost like even as the company grows and things are still happening, it's as if we are very good at using some good duct tape around some to make it work.
And so you can't just come and say, I'm going to just change everything and your life is going to be easier.
You also have to understand what makes sense for your people, what will make sense for the finance function to be able, and then you have to marry the two.
This is where we need to be as a business.
Yes, but here's how my finance function and my people and my reports and my dashboard are going to help achieve those goals.
