Sorry guys, tough to get through this.

My grandmother came down and later jacket across my arm to keep the sun from melting the fat on my arm.

And we just laid there together praying and seemed like we prayed forever.

My walk with the Lord really started then because I'll tell you guys, as I cried out to heaven and said, please don't let me die.

There's a voice that I heard at some point that just told me, Willie, I'm not going to let you die.

And at that point, for whatever reason, call it shock, call it really God talking to me.

I knew,

that I was going to be okay.

The ambulance came and I got to tell you, these guys were trained to the hill.

They took gallon after gallon of saline solution and washed my arm and cleaned it up and put my arm in an air splint.

They put me in the ambulance and by that time they were so worried that my grandfather might have a heart attack.

that they put him in an ambulance too.

And they took us to Cox North Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.

And that's where my journey began.

I was in that hospital for two months, surgery after surgery, cutting away dead skin and dead tissue and getting skin grafts and allowing my bones to grow back together.

But here's what I want to tell you guys.

It was wrong for a young boy of 12 years old to have to lay on the ground for almost two hours waiting on an ambulance to show up.

If that same accident happened today, it would only take 36 minutes for me to get to a hospital.

Because in this old alfalfa hayfield you see out here behind me, we could have a helicopter land there, clean me up, get me on board, and get me to a hospital right away.

And you'll just excuse me, folks, if I don't want to go back to that.
