With the BetaShares WealthBuilder range, investors can access moderate gearing into shares, and with the newly launched GG-BL, That means exposure to a diversified portfolio of around 1,300 global companies excluding Australia, all with no loan applications, credit checks, or margin calls. It is good to be here talking everything you need to know about buying your chosen ETF as part five of our ETF miniseries. So if you have just landed on this episode and have not listened to the previous four episodes and you don't know what an ETF is or how to research one, we suggest going back in time four days ago and starting with part one of the miniseries.
And welcome to the show again, Mini Pizza. Hello, hello. Monique, wonderful to have you with us. Today we're talking about how to actually buy an ETF. So we've got through all the fun stuff of what is an ETF, how to research one, how it fits. Now, okay, how do I buy it?
The interesting thing is this step is often what trips people up. Which broker do I go with? Yes, which broker do I go with is probably the question we get even more than which ETF do I choose, which I find quite interesting.
Yeah. So once you realize that it doesn't really matter that much, you'll be all right. We know it's very hard to get – there are two types of people that make decisions. There's the people that really think about it and there's the people that kind of just go, she'll be all right. Just get it done. I'll take the baked beans.
And we're also going to talk about how to keep your ETF alive, unlike your Tamagotchi in this episode. So we will talk about how to find your ETF share registry, how to put your tax file number in, how to keep your bank details up to date, how to elect for... Tamagotchi. Yeah, I mean, I always killed mine. So we've got to keep watering the ETF. We do not want tax withheld from our distributions. So we want to keep it healthy.
So basically what to do to buy an ETF and invest in one and what to do once you've bought one. You've got a brokerage account, right?
Yes.
Okay, cool. So for those of you that don't, when you invest in the stock market, you need a broker. And in the times gone by, they were actual people that would take your money, they would scribble your order down on a piece of paper, and they would go down to the market and try and get it filled. Thanks to the internet and computers, you now do this virtually all online. Cool. So, for example, I've never used a physical broker. You can still use them, but I have no reason to. And so all of this is done online. Some of the most popular names in Australia include?
