This all went down back in the winter of 2011, right after my mother's supervisor died in a massive pile up on the interstate. After the funeral, he
What triggered the family’s strange experiences after the supervisor’s fatal accident?
The company cleared out his office locker and gave my mum a box of his personal drafting tools and paperwork, and for some reason, she also kept a twisted metal piece of aluminum engine manifold from the wreckage or something like that. A month later, once the initial shock wore off, my mum started acting completely strange. She'd always slept with her bedroom door wide open, and
Why did the mother start locking her bedroom door and demanding the kids sleep on the floor?
But out of nowhere, she started locking it tight at night. She also started begging my older brother and me to drag our sleeping bags into her room and sleep on the floor next to her bed. We took turns doing it, though we had absolutely zero clue why she suddenly became so terrified of her own house.
What was the dark mass the mother saw in the hallway and how did it behave?
Eventually, though, she cracked and told us what was going on. She said that one night she woke up from a brutal nightmare in a total panic, and noticed a dark mass standing perfectly still in the narrow hallway right outside of her door. Apparently it just stood there, dead eyeing her right through the gap for what felt like about ten minutes, before it slowly turned around, tracked past the banister, and zipped down the main stairwell into the dark. Neither my brother nor I had seen anything ourselves, so we kept taking turns keeping her company, and As the winter passed, the sightings completely stopped though, and things seemed to sort of flatten out a
bit.
By the time that the next school year started, I was in eighth grade and my brother was a sophomore. Around the same time my mum started dating a guy called John at And our grandfather ended up moving into the spare room downstairs as well. Everything felt completely back to normal, really. And my mum stopped asking us to watch over her at night, obviously, and But one weekend. Four of our cousins came over for a big family cookout at one stage, two boys and two girls, and while we were hanging out in the den, the oldest cousin brought up my mum's old supervisor and said that she wanted to try using a mirror scrying ritual to see if he could pull a transmission from him. The rest of us wanted absolutely no part of this, mind you, especially given the history of the land that we lived on.
The neighborhood had been built directly over an abandoned nineteenth century railway quarantine camp, and people on our street, they were always talking about finding weird rusted medical hardware in their gardens and experiencing heavy, unexplained vibes. We had all noticed weird things around the property before too, but we just never talked about it. We eventually got bored though, and went out to the garage to mess around with our bikes for a bit. Meanwhile, my cousin stayed behind in the black bedroom with an old Polaroid of the supervisor, and lit a match. A few minutes later though, he came flying down the stairs into the garage in a total shaking panic and He said that while he was staring into the glass, this horrible suffocating pressure hit his chest and he just had to stop.
We were all pretty upset with him because we'd explicitly told him not to mess around with that stuff. Eventually though, The cousins went home and for a couple of weeks nothing really happened. Then Thanksgiving rolled around, and Every year we did Thanksgiving dinner over at my aunt's place across town. We'd already opened some early holiday packages at home, and my mum made my brother and me haul our new gear up to our room because she didn't want the front room looking cluttered. Her boyfriend, John, decided to stay behind at our place because he and my aunt absolutely loathed each other.
