I feel like we're getting back to seeing that version of Scherzer, which we hadn't seen in a couple of years.
Yes, and he uh boy, you know, his his velocity was good. This last outing against the Dodgers, and that's the other thing about Max Scherzer. His last two outings have come against two really good teams. Um His velocity was great the last outing tonight. It was up even more. It was up a tick more. He got uh nine whiffs today, and again, uh that number probably Probably a skewed a little by the fact that the Cubs the Cubs MO today was the same as it was last night, pretty much. They were gonna swing early and swing often. And you know that may have had an impact on some of the whiffs as well. But um yeah, uh Velo was there, finished throwing ninety five miles an hour. Uh again, that's that's Max Scherzer.
Yeah, ninety three point nine is where the fastball sat. He threw forty five percent fastballs in this game. He threw nineteen sliders. Even the slider was sitting just a titch below ninety miles an hour. I mean, that's those are parts of Scherzer's game, Jeff. I feel like we haven't seen again in years. And I mean look, you you said it off the top, but if if the playoffs started today, I know there's a lot of baseball left, but if the playoffs started today, I mean Scherzer is a is one of your First three starters in a postseason series, without question.
Without question. Uh uh I you know, I again we've talked a lot about this. That will be an interesting discussion. Uh Shane Bieber starts tomorrow at triple A and if all goes well, his next start should be in the majors. And that is gonna have implications, obviously, for uh Jose Perrios. Uh Chris Bassett, Eric Lauer to a certain degree, Kevin Gossman maybe as well. Because Shane Bieber didn't come here to not pitch in the playoffs if he's healthy, I can I can tell you that.
