Why might my podcast be underperforming despite good download numbers?
What if the biggest problem with your podcast isn't the download numbers? What if it's not your consistency? And what if it's not your marketing? What if the real issue is that you're asking your podcast to do far less than it's actually capable of? Because I think a lot of business owners are sitting on one of the most powerful assets in their business and treating it like a content channel. Publishing episodes, promoting those episodes, and then hoping those episodes will grow. But they're never stopping to ask how those episodes are actually supporting their business behind them. Now, over the last several years, I've watched entrepreneurs use podcasting to build authority, attract opportunities, create partnerships, nurture potential customers, and generate revenue in ways that have very little to do with download numbers.
And that is exactly why I created my new private podcast series called Podcasting for Business. Now originally, this private podcast series was created as part of the launch for my new coaching program, Podcasting for Business Program. In this series, we explore the strategy behind using a podcast to build that authority, nurture trust, and support long-term business growth. While applications for this round of the program have closed and we'll be kicking things off soon, I didn't want those conversations to disappear with the launch. The topics that we cover inside of this series are too important and honestly they're conversations I think every business minded podcaster should hear. So Rather than taking it down immediately and stop marketing this private podcast, I've decided to keep the private podcast available for a bit longer for anyone who wants to start thinking differently about their podcast and its role in their business, whether you're ready for coaching support right now or not.
So today's episode is is actually the first episode from that private podcast series. I wanted to give you a little taste of what you would get inside of the private podcast. So if you've ever wondered whether your podcast could be doing more for your business, I think that you're going to find this conversation incredibly valuable. Before we get started, you can grab the full series at gaffincreative.com slash private pod. Hey y'all, I'm Hayley Gaffin and you're listening to Clocking In, the podcast where we help podcasters and business owners grow their show and their brand with strategy, clarity, and confidence. Now let's clock in and get to work. Friends, podcasters, welcome to Podcasting for Business.
This is a private podcast series designed to help entrepreneurs like yourself stop treating your podcast like a marketing accessory and start using it like a strategic business tool. Now, over the next few episodes, we will be going through authority positioning, listener conversion, trust visibility, monetization, and and how podcasts actually support your business growth. Now, I think a lot of entrepreneurs accidentally separate their podcast from the rest of their business strategy, and they are not doing this on purpose. The podcast lives over here in their marketing content creation land, but their offers live over here in their business brand. Marketing. Is somewhere tied between the two, but the journey is entirely disconnected.
What is the purpose of the new private “Podcasting for Business” series?
So, what I want to encourage you to think about is that your strategic podcast should not be existing independently from your business if your podcast is supposed to support your business. And if that's the case, it should be living within your business ecosystem as a whole. Your podcast is tied to your marketing, authority, audience trust, sales process, visibility, positioning, all these things, even if you're not intentionally making it that way. A podcast is not just another platform for you to create content on. We need to be looking at it as so much more. Now one of the biggest reasons that podcasting is so powerful for business owners is because podcasts create trust differently than almost any other content format.
