Ladies and gentlemen, you're listening to another edition of DOM Money.
Logan 0:20
What's going on with you? You have not updated us in a while on goals, running. Are you back into it? Are you still in your routine? Are you like, I'm not running until it's warm outside? So I, man.
Quint (host) 0:31
I started re-engaging with a training block, and then I quickly found that my motivation had waned considerably. I'm blaming the weather. I hope that's it. We'll see. But I have kind of scaled back, and right now I'm actually okay with it. I know I will need a new running goal at some point in the near future because if I go too long without a running goal, it's not great. For me personally. And I also don't like what it does to my brain when I'm not out there pounding the pavement and running and whatever. But right now, no. I'm really dialed in on the homestretch for our oldest son selecting a school. and doing some final school visits and really kind of just being present for that. And I've realized that at this moment in time, that's what I need to be doing.
Quint (host) 1:26
That's where my brain needs to be because pretty soon he's going to pack a car and be gone, and I'll drop him off, and I'll look back on this and be like, okay, was I too focused on running and a new goal, or was I present and focused with him?
Logan 1:42
Yeah, sometimes you just have to tread water in other places and focus on it.
Quint (host) 1:45
That's right. So, fully excited? He's excited. I think he's nervous. I think he's got a lot of stress. I mean, it's interesting to me. I remember... You'll go through this, I hope. I mean, I can see me bringing him home from the hospital. Like... like baby burrito i don't know if you know what that is uh that's when you wrap your child up like a burrito they secures their little arms and everything like that great now i'm hungry and like a lot of things right i had to be the best baby burrito person so you know i wrapped him in his little baby burrito i went and got the car we put it in i probably drove seven on the way home literally i was so angry with other people passing me doing the speed limit i'm like what
Quint (host) 2:30
What is wrong with you people? I have a newborn in here. It was amazing. And now, you know, he's large, smelly, gross, and leaving for college. So it goes fast. Holy cow. So, yeah, you know, that markets are in turmoil right now. Yep. That's always taxing, even though I feel like as a firm, holy cow, we're in great shape and great position. I feel like we've kind of seen the ball well here and managing risk appropriately. But what's going on in your world?
Logan 3:03
You know, I'm having the same struggles in some areas, like trying to focus a lot on family time as well as work, because work is crazy right now with the market volatility and what we're seeing. And there's a lot of anxiety out there in general I've seen. I mean, specifically just everything, not just markets, but I think a lot of the news headlines that are coming out are giving people a lot of anxiety, and they have it in a lot of different areas of life. So that obviously translates to our clients and helping them through things. But, man, I've stunk on my 5 a.m. club lately. It's like 530, 535. You know, I even hit the snooze every once in a while now, like an A, Howard. It's brutal.
Quint (host) 3:40
Well, it's 30 degrees or 20 degrees and snowing. I mean, we've got to get a weather break. Please. And it's coming. I mean, it's coming. And then I'm... I did some travel recently, needed to get into some sunshine. It was amazing, and I ran. I was like, I'm going out for a run, and it was great, and so I think that'll change a lot. I think it'll certainly change a lot. On the same token, I've had to stop. like any and all social media because it it is you talk about divisive and anxiety uh it is and we're gonna talk a little bit about that on this question today but i mean people i i respect and and i'm fond of and friendly with and and i have to and i see them
