How do the hosts introduce the episode and personal updates?

Allie Howard 0:01
Hey, this is Allie, and thanks for listening to the show. Give us a five-star review where you listen and share this episode with someone who might need to hear it. Now, enjoy the show.
Quint (host) 0:13
Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. You're listening to another edition of DIY Money. DIY Money. What's shaking, Howard?
Allie Howard 0:21
What's shaking with you?
Quint (host) 0:23
Well, I'm rolling into—I mean, people are sick of hearing this, but I don't really care. I'm rolling into the final three weeks of marathon prep. Yeah, I have a big one tomorrow. We're cutting this on the 15th of August. I have a 24-mile run tomorrow, which is abnormal because usually you max out at 20. But my coach is making sure that I have kind of the horsepower to carry through the whole race because I think I have the speed. I think I have all the short-term stuff done, but I've got to get the endurance there. So, yeah, then three weeks of taper, back off a little bit. It'll feel like a vacation. I cannot wait. And then the marathon.
Allie Howard 1:03
So this is your last long run? And then you taper next week?
Quint (host) 1:07
Yeah. I mean, it's my last, like, 20-plus miler, 20 miler. I'm sure I'll do some stupid 18 milers or 16 miles or something. But those aren't long anymore? They're long.
Allie Howard 1:16
They're long. A short 12.
Quint (host) 1:18
Yeah. And, you know, I've already talked about this ad nauseum to drop the oldest off the college. Now we're in that weird balance. It's like the first date. Like, do I call him? Does he call me? Like, should I message him? I don't want to message him too much. I don't want to be that overbearing parent. You know, so that's a weird that's a weird that nobody told me about that dynamic. I mean, what do you do? Do you message your kid?

Why is marathon training and family updates relevant to the conversation?

Quint (host) 1:37
Do you set up a normal time to talk on the regular basis? You know. Oh, what do you mean by that thumbs up? Does that mean a good thing? It's ridiculous. It's like I'm overanalyzing it. You're overthinking it. It's terrible. It's terrible.
Allie (host) 1:48
When men text something, it's just a couple of words. Send. That's all I had to say. I have nothing left. I'm tapped out right now. When I get another thought, I will send that out to you. But right now, just a couple of crickets playing racquetball up there. Yeah.
Allie Howard 2:00
How have the other two responded to him being gone?
Quint (host) 2:04
They do not care. They're just like, whatever. Nothing. It's the same. It's nothing. I can already tell the grocery budget is much improved, though. But that money just went into the meal plan, so it doesn't matter. Yeah, so there you go. Now you're eating his share. Yeah, that's what's going on in my life. And I'll tell you right now, listen, we need questions for the queue. We went through a series. We went through a period where we did a lot of series. And as I listen to our podcast, we have stopped telling people we need questions. So we need to get in the habit. We need audio questions. The show works because you send us an audio question. And for that, we send you an Amazon gift card. Now, listen, I know it's a bull market.
Quint (host) 2:44
Everybody's making money everywhere. Everybody's flush with cash. I don't need an Amazon gift card. I'm not in the poor house. I'm crushing it in my stocks, in my stonks. So you don't need that. If somebody doesn't want theirs, I'll take it. But seriously, it's a $25 Amazon gift card. So get on your phone. Open the Voice Memo app. Record a question. Send it to us at podcast at diymoney.org. That's podcast at diymoney.org. We'll put it on the show. If we put it on the show, boom. $25 Amazon gift card. And it used to be like a 10, 15, 25-day, sometimes 30-day turnaround. Not with A. Howard on it. It's like, bam. I listened to one of the other days. Girl's like, yeah, I gave my Amazon gift card to so-and-so. I was like, what?
Quint (host) 3:29
Why didn't you use it? It was a friend of mine who sent in the question. Donna, she was a runner.
Allie Howard 3:33
Who'd she give it to?
Quint (host) 3:33
I think her nephew or something. That's kind. Kind. I would have been like, oh, I gave you a $5 gift card. I thought it was $25. That's what you get, $20 tax. DIY Money Juniors go always to the top, right? DIY Money Juniors go to the top of the list. So anyways, all right, let's hit to our question today.
