DIY Money.
What's shaking, Logan?
Hey, Howard, are you going on any fun, exciting trips this next year? Are you sleeping on the ground anywhere? Do you have any big plans? I know it's January, and it's cold, and you're miserable because you hate cold weather.
Thank you.
But are you doing any fun trips, exciting times?
Honestly, I, this morning on my way to work, thought about, kind of as a joke and kind of being so for real, sending a Google form to some of my friends and being like, looking at PTO, what's the move? Nice. Because I'm telling you right now, everyone I know is turning 30 this year, and that's so exciting. But that is so expensive because you can't just get the balloons. And so they're all going to be wanting to do these trips. And I've got to figure out.
They're doing 30th birthday party trips?
Oh, yeah.
Oh, wow.
You're not doing this? You haven't heard about this?
I am 35 years old and I live in a van down by the river.
I'm the guy that I won't tell anybody about my birthday.
That is true because there's been times I found out midday at work that it was your birthday.
Yeah, and I think this happens naturally in life is there's the person that you marry. The person you marry is the person that one of the two of you loves birthdays. Birthdays are the biggest deal of all time. The month of the birthday is you have to start celebrating the birthday.
That's my mom.
And the week of the birthday is really crucial. That is very important. That person marries the person. I didn't say that. You said that. You're implying it. I didn't say that. You are implying it. But that person marries the person that could not give two flips about birthday, doesn't want to even talk about birthday, doesn't even acknowledge that it exists. It's just a number. And that's just accurate. I don't know what to tell you.
So we got the sides sorted.
May or may not be either one of us.
And I love going on trips with friends. It's so life-giving. But I'm going to tell you right now, I'm saying no to some stuff this year.
You should.
Because I cannot go on 12 trips and six cruises and whatever. How are you people doing this? So basically, I need to talk to my closest friends. Maybe I'll just send them this episode. Be like, listen to the beginning. Send me your thoughts. But I want to get an idea of, are we doing a weekend trip and everyone's chipping in? If so, I'm probably there. I can make that happen. I'm willing to cut where needed. If we're going on a seven-day Alaskan cruise, you just put me down on the no column. Love you so much. Tell me all about it when you get back, and I might buy you a pizza.
You have some bougie friends, too?
I have some bougie friends. Actually, most of my closest friends are not bougie, and that really helps. That's good. But then I do have one specific friend group that they're the bougie ones for sure.
Yep. I have a specific friend. He might be listening to this episode, but, you know, he's the guy that I'm like, OK, we have a bachelor trip for Jim Bob and we're going to go do something. I'm like, OK, let's all split a cabin in Gatlinburg. Let's do something really cheap at like Red River Gorge or something. And he's like, let's go to Puerto Rico. And you're like, now wait a second. He's like, you want to go golfing this weekend? I'm like, yeah, let's go to the public course in Lexington. He's like, let's go play on Everest.
How about Paris, Kentucky?
Yeah, exactly.
Yeah, it's my bachelor brunch. Go crazy. Get some chocolate chip pancakes.
So, you know, you got to watch out for those out there because they're there. And speaking of which, this leads into our episode really well because we're going to talk about budgeting 2.0. We're going to go to the next stage, 201, of budgeting. But before we get there, let's do a couple housekeeping odds and ends.
