Hey, this is Allie, and thanks for listening to the show. Give us a five-star review where you listen and share this episode with someone who might need to hear it. Now, enjoy the show. Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. You're listening to another edition of DIY Monday. DIY Monday, Monday, Monday, Monday. Whoa. It's been a while. Whoa. It's been a while. Wow.
Logan (host) 0:22
It's been a while.
Quint (host) 0:23
What's shaking, Logan?
Logan (host) 0:23
Gotta bring it back. Oh, well, okay. So last time, well, a couple times ago that we were on, we talked about I'm playing basketball again. Every week, Thursday night, church basketball, which does get very intense. You did say that. It gets intense.
Quint (host) 0:38
Yeah. A lot of Christian activity out there.
Logan (host) 0:40
Oh, for sure. For sure. But I still got it.
Unknown 0:43
The Elevator Man, what a high riser, what a super scintillating, sensational performer.
Logan (host) 0:49
Still got it a little bit, yeah.
Quint (host) 0:51
It helps being 6'4". Are you an inside post player? Are you kind of a guard, a shooting guard? What's your MO there?
Logan (host) 0:58
I'm like naturally like a three, so like a small forward type of thing. But with the folks we were playing with, you know, I was having the little sidestep fadeaway in the lane. That was... That was pretty good.
Quint (host) 1:10
So are you in a league or these pickup games?
Logan (host) 1:13
It's pickup games, but it's kind of like the same group. So we have like 15 guys that come and come play. And, you know, there's people, it's a lot of different ages. There's 40 year olds in there. And then there's, you know, people in high school that are playing for the high school teams.
Quint (host) 1:26
I might every once in a while, a buddy will be like, hey, we're we're going to play pick up here or there. And most of the time I'm like, I I'm I'm booked up. I am not. Is that I'm like completely wide open. But I'm like, is that where you throw out the game time decision? lately, or this has been over the last couple years, I'm just like, nah, I'm out. Because I just know it is Pandora's box. Take the thing. Were you a basketball player in high school? Was that your jam? Yeah, that's my sport. Okay, so you get it then. Take the thing that you loved dearly, and we're pretty decent at it, and then fast forward 20... 30 years, 32 years, and it's like, oh, come out and play again. And it's just the biggest lesson in humility.
Allie (host) [low-confidence match] 2:25
Seriously, free throws are probably the best facet of my game.
Quint (host) 2:28
So I'd rather almost learn something new, know that I stink at it, and that I can get better. It's kind of how I feel about pickleball.
Logan (host) 2:36
Yeah, it is kind of painful because I go out and like the first two games, I'm like, wow, you know, got this. And then I'm like, my legs are totally toast and I'm having trouble running the court. So, you know, it's going to take some time.
Quint (host) 2:48
Well, I am in the throes of, you know, training for the next big race, which is in April. And this weather is not making it any easier. It is very, very difficult. But I will say, I had the opportunity to get onto an indoor track yesterday. Nice. It was a total fluke, you know, knowing low people in high places, right? It was amazing. And to get in there and to run indoors around a track, and it was a beautiful track, and I was like, oh, I could get used to this. This was nice. It's a once in a... Sure, I won't be able to do that again. But it's been very difficult. A lot of treadmill runs. I have a workout tomorrow, and I have no idea where or how I'm going to do it. But I'll tell you, if I can get through these weeks...
Quint (host) 3:42
with this ice and this nonsense.
Allie (host) [low-confidence match] 3:44
Now on this February 2nd, Punxsutawney Phil, the seer of seers, was awakened from his wintry nap and report that there is a shadow here on my ground. Six more weeks of winter abound. Wow.
Quint (host) 3:59
Anyways, all right, let's go. We're going to go back to the classroom briefly. We've gotten really good feedback. Keep the questions coming. We need them in the queue. We're probably only a few weeks out, so if you send us a question, you'll have that gift card by the time the weather thaws, and you can use it on something fun. for the spring at Amazon. So keep the questions coming to podcast at DIYMoney.org. Follow us on all the social DIY Money podcasts.
