Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. You're listening to another edition of DIY Money.

DIY Money.
Quint (host) 0:18
Hey, Howard in the house. Your star is rising.
Allie Howard 0:22
My star is rising?
Quint (host) 0:23
Your star is rising. Well, you get the comments. I go through the comments, whether it's Spotify or iTunes. By the way, keep leaving those comments. We love them. People love you.
Allie Howard 0:33
Wow.
Quint (host) 0:34
People love you.
Allie Howard 0:34
And you know, it's not good at accepting praise. Yeah. Can you tell? Let's try it again.
Quint (host) 0:40
People love you.
Allie Howard 0:41
Wow.
Quint (host) 0:42
Thanks. Look at that face. She looks like a young Elizabeth Taylor. No, come on. You got to own it. You should love me. No, no, no. You don't have to go overboard. No, I mean, hey, Howard, they love your personality, how genuine you are. I'm not so sure. I don't hear any comments about your crazy camping trips and
Unknown 0:59
That's because you're the only one who gets scared about that. Well, because I don't want to lose this star that is rising.
Quint (host) 1:04
You're an important asset in our enterprise here. I'd rather you not get abducted and end up on a 2020 television show or nonsense like that.
Allie Howard 1:13
Well, we've got to get to your question in a second, but I have one question for you, and this is so serious. If I went skydiving, would you want to know before or after? Because you always act like you don't want to know. But sometimes I feel like you feel better if you know I'm about to go in the woods. Because then if I die, you know why.
Quint (host) 1:32
Well, first of all, I will be praying for you aggressively. You need to make sure that you notify HR that you're doing this. Because I do not think your insurance is covered if something were to happen. No. Honestly, I'm being dead serious. I think if you broke a bone or something like that doing something, I do not think it's covered.
Unknown 1:55
That's fair.
Quint (host) 1:55
So be aware of that.
Unknown 1:56
Is he making this up?
Quint (host) 1:57
I could be making this up, but I don't think so.
Unknown 1:59
I think you are.
Quint (host) 2:00
I think I read this somewhere. But anyways, what I want to know, I would not want to know until you're done.
Allie Howard 2:06
Yeah, I certainly won't tell you then, and I most definitely will not be telling HR. Let's jump out of a perfectly good airplane. That's a great idea.
Unknown 2:13
So I just got myself some discounted skydiving lessons. They're having a full sale.
Quint (host) 2:18

We got a great question from Jack today in Seattle. Jack, what do you got?
D!
Jack (caller) 3:16
Hey, DOI Money Fam, Jack from Seattle with a question for you. My fiance and I have had some optional large purchases come up lately and we're struggling with deciding if they are worth it financially. For some context, we're both on the younger side of things, 33 and 35. We have a good amount of cash on hand separate from our emergency fund and a large brokerage account we have been building for potential early retirement. We're looking at a wedding as well as some large house improvements, but keep finding ourselves back at the, but is this worth it to us question. While these expenses would improve and enhance our lives today, they take away some of the future flexibility we have been building towards.
Jack (caller) 3:48
I'd love to hear your thoughts on how we can go about assigning value to our money and some thought processes we can go through when making these larger discretionary purchases.
