Welcome back. Ladies and gentlemen, you're listening to another edition of DIY Money.
Allie Howard 0:17
DIY Money. Hey, Howard. Quint, I'm very excited because I just realized that when this comes out, you will be finishing up your trip to Italy.
Quint (host) 0:26
Yeah, yeah. Month-long trip.
Allie Howard 0:27
How are you feeling? Are you prepped to get on a plane in a couple days?
Quint (host) 0:30
I'm not prepped at all. Yeah, we're cutting this on a Thursday afternoon. I leave Saturday around noon. I have nothing prepared as far as like packing-wise or anything. I have a list going in my head. Okay. That's not great. But you know what? The primary purpose of the first three weeks, at least, is with students. And this is what we did last year. I took 10 students over. It was absolutely amazing. Became very close with those 10 students. Probably will be close to them forever. Now I have 19 students. I don't know if that will be the same dynamic. It'll be a little bit more difficult with 19. But... The curriculum is the same, and the greatest thing about this, I think, is we get to experience all the wonderful sights and sounds and food and all the amazing things of Italy.
Quint (host) 1:16
But at the end of the day, these kids are still managing $6.5 million of real money. And I've already started to share with them. I'm like, I told them the other day, I go, if you're not following DIY money podcast on Instagram, you need to do it because this is, we're going to put up updates about what's going on. Like you need to know what's going on in the world. You don't have, you come into semester and we have a month to get brought up to speed on what's going on in the world. They're going to have like two days, like two days. You need to know what's going on. Yeah. So they need to be well-versed ahead of time. We do three hours of class a day. It's pretty intense. Yeah. I cannot wait. So that part, which usually would give me stress, certainly gave me stress last year.
Quint (host) 1:55
I was like finishing the curriculum. I got that in the bag. That's ready to go. In fact, I got booklets for them this year to like fill in.
Unknown 2:02
That's fire.
Quint (host) 2:03
Oh yeah, I'm pretty excited about it.
Unknown 2:04
That's what I'm talking about. That's why he's the MVP. That's why he's the GOAT.
Quint (host) 2:09
But as far as like packing and stuff, now I'm going to pack for a week. I know I'm there for a month, but I'm going to pack for a week. Okay. Because you cannot pack for a month. You have to pack for a week, and I go do laundry.
Allie Howard 2:21
Okay.
Quint (host) 2:21
So believe it or not, my packing is not that nutso. I pack enough to run, a couple of decent outfits, very casual for the rest of the time.
Allie Howard 2:31
Do you have unclean underwear? Is that how you usually are when you go on trips? Are you a last-minute packer? 100%. Same.
Quint (host) 2:37
I can pack in five minutes. Yep. I have traveled over my life so much that I know, you know, the four shirts, four pants, underwear, socks, and running gear that I need. If you told me you were going to, you know, Nairobi for a week, I could be ready to go by, what time is it? It's now four. I could be ready by 420. Be ready. Let's do it. Let's go to Nairobi. That's crazy.
Allie Howard 3:01
Have you ever seen Daniel's packing list? What's the adapter over there, though?
Quint (host) 3:03
No. Why would I have seen Daniel's packing list?
Allie Howard 3:05
He's shown it to me before. He has like a notes app on his phone, and it's like toothbrush, check. Toothpaste, check. And he copies it. So when he goes on a trip, this is so Daniel. That's great. That's Daniel, yeah. He will copy it, and then he'll paste it and put the dates in, and then he'll walk around his house and be like, okay, I got my floss, check. I got my toothbrush, check.

How do the hosts describe their travel packing and unpacking habits?

Allie Howard 3:27
Great.
Quint (host) 3:28
Whatever works for you.
Allie Howard 3:29
I'm like you. I intentionally wait to pack at the last minute because I have found that stresses me out less. Because if I pack the night before, then I lay in bed and I'm like, oh, I didn't get my rain jacket. I didn't get this charger.
Quint (host) 3:43
Well, do you make a list? I make a list. I make a list ahead of time.
