What's up, everybody, and welcome back to another edition of DIY Money.
DIY Money.
Daniel. What's up? It's been a while. What's up?
Well, we're in the 700 episodes now.
Yeah, 7.01 today. So go back and listen to our 700th. Do you feel old?
How long would it take to listen to 700 episodes? Do we average 15 minutes? We probably average more like 17.
No, we definitely average more. Yeah, okay. So 701 episodes, 17 minutes an episode.
We'll say about that.
60 minutes an hour, 24 hours in a day.
How long has the DIY Money podcast been running and why does it matter?
If you have 8.27 days to spare, you could listen to all of them.
That's all I've done is eight days of work.
Well, you aren't even on all of them, not to call you out.
Wow.
Eight days of work.
That seems pretty anticlimactic for how many years we've been doing this.
Do you feel like you're going gray now that you're on episode 701? Yeah. Do you feel older?
We started in 2019. I don't know why you're asking me.
I was not here.
Well, you have access to the spreadsheet, so come on.
I want to say it was 2020. Was it a COVID thing?
No, it was before pandemic that we actually started the podcast. 2019.
Podcasts weren't really a thing pre-COVID as much, were they? Like people did not listen to podcasts as much. They definitely were produced, but I don't feel like they had the same vibe, for lack of a better word. Like now it's cool to listen to podcasts. Before it was like, oh, wow, podcasts.
I disagree. Okay. People listen to a lot of podcasts before because they were commuting and working out and stuff. COVID changed it.
Yeah. Well, now it's like, sure, educational, but also like more fun.
Yeah, we actually got feedback from some people that they listened to less during COVID because they weren't like doing their commute. So a lot of people like turn on the car or whatever, listen to podcasts on their commute or train ride or whatever. And if you're just working from home and unless you're like listening to a podcast as you work, which not everybody does.
Commuting to the kitchen. yeah i mean most people just may not listen to it as much so there's that but no it's not like qr codes like qr codes pretty much were extinct and then covid happened pandemic happened and then yeah qr codes like rose because everyone learned what how to do it like my parents i distinctly remember going to a restaurant with them during covid and they were so confused when they handed out the like qr code thing and they're like scan this for the menu yeah and my parents just stared at me and they're like what and i was like you can do it with your camera they're like what it took them forever to figure it out i'm old and i'm not happy everything today is improved and i don't like it yeah but now they're like qr code geniuses ubiquitous yeah like podcasts um the other thing i want to talk about is i learned literally like three days ago that you're coaching basketball now
No, I'm not coaching. I'm just showing up.
Oh, because your son's playing?
Yes.
That's making no offense, but I was like, Daniel, do you even watch basketball?
I barely am a good coach at soccer. Basketball would be horrendous. Soccer, at least, you just need momentum. Just kick the ball and run towards it.
And it's more European, so I feel like you're more likely to know something about it.
probably we do watch uh yeah we do watch more soccer at home football than uh we do yeah we don't ever watch basketball at home yeah i don't know why he chose basketball it's just the winter sport i think to get energy yeah um but no we watch some of the premier league games um because he liked watching some of the soccer but and is he better at soccer or basketball so far He's annoying because he's good at both.
Classic.
Yeah, he's a very athletic one, and he's just naturally like... I mean, he'll even be like, I don't know why I'm so good at this. I'm like, neither do I. I love that he acknowledges it.
