Hey, this is Allie, and thanks for listening to the show. Give us a five-star review where you listen and share this episode with someone who might need to hear it. Now, enjoy the show.
Welcome in to another episode of DIY Money.
DIY Money. What's shaking, eh, Howard? Not a whole lot. Oh, you took the paper right out of my hand. I mean, right out of my hand.
Allie does these great papers that lay out exactly what we need to do, and I stole it. Here, you can have it back.
Thank you so much. I would like to be able to do my job. big deal i am very professional um hey everybody welcome to the show we're a little bit of a mess today we're out of our rhythm so you're gonna have to bear with us yeah this is a friday cut of an episode friday afternoon cut rainy skies dark clouds i'm ready for a nap not gonna lie
Well, you got to pump it up. You were not pumped on the last episode.
I know. I know. What's new in your world? You're house hunting right now.
Oh, my goodness.
Have you updated the people on that in a while?
Jeez. We have all these things happening. I think I updated it on the last episode. I was talking about my wife getting a new job. So because of that and because we're no longer living in Frankfort, Kentucky. If anybody lives in Frankfort, Kentucky, I'm sorry. But we are moving back to the Lexington area. So we're trying to find a house. That's just so fun and, you know, dealing with people that are making cash offers and dealing with the bank and doing all the things. So it's a lot, but it's great. How are you at home decor?
What personal updates do the hosts share about moving and house hunting?
Is that all just Hannah's wheelhouse?
That should be very self-explanatory.
Well, but is your apartment... I've never been to your apartment, obviously, but is it cute and Hannah has it all with a good theme? Yes, of course.
But if I lived there, there would not be anything on the walls. You've seen my office. And you're not wrong. Oh my gosh, we have got to put stuff in your office. Yes. So no, my wife does all that and she's great at it and she has the vision. Like she walks into one of these houses and she has the vision and everything. And for me, if it's not like preset where they have like, you know what I mean? Where they have the stuff in it.
You go to Lowe's and you're like, I want this room. Is that what you're talking about?
No, no, no. You go into a house to tour it and to look at the house and they have it framed. They have all the furniture and stuff in there. If it's not in there for me, I'm like, I don't know what I'm looking at. I'm like, these are just walls and floors. And my wife is like, well, the couch would be here and the bed would be here.
The feng shui.
We'd have a lamp stand here and all that stuff. Yeah, I'm just like, okay, it's a house. Yeah, I don't know. Oh, my.
Let's call this feng shui for beginners. Well, you'll get there. I'm sure she'll have you... To the question. To the question. Well, first, let's go to our sponsors. This episode, all episodes brought to you by Jewel Financial. That's where, what did you say last episode? That's our day job. That's our day job. And we also have some other good sponsors. We're going to pause and give our other good sponsors a chance here. Awesome. Yes. And if you have questions, send in your questions to podcast at DIYMoney.org. You could have a chance to be featured on the show. And in doing so, you receive $25 on the Amazon gift card. Okay. Today, we've got a really good question from Jacob, a junior question. Jacob, what do you got?
DIY!
Hi, I'm Jacob from Springfield, Pennsylvania. I was wondering what's the best way to get started with investing. I'm 12 years old and have a small amount of money saved up. While I'm not saving for anything in particular, I'd like to know how much should I keep in my savings account and how much I should invest. And what's the best way to get started? Thank you very much.
Boom! Jacob, great question. I'll tackle this one first and then I'll kick it over to Logan. And I'll share a little bit of how I got started investing. You are far younger than I was when I began this journey, so I commend you for that.
