July 4th. Booyah! I've been teetering the last few years about whether July 4th is my favorite holiday or Easter.
Both are incorrect answers, but you go ahead. Because you think it's Thanksgiving.
It is Thanksgiving. No! It is 100% Thanksgiving.
Let me tell you.
Fourth of July, you get the day off work. You go out in the hot sunshine to a parade. And I go to, this is a plug for the Wilmore parade. If anyone's in the Lexington area, Wilmore is like very small town. I grew up in 30 minutes from here. Someone listens. They're about to be when I tell you the best part of the Wilmore parade is that you have all of these middle-aged men who do the lawnmower brigade.

And they practice, and when I was growing up, we lived at the top of this hill, and they would practice, meaning they would wear, like, tank tops and shorts, and they would decorate their lawnmowers, push mowers, to be clear, and then they have these, like, formations, and this guy leads it, and he has a whistle, and he'll, like, blow it a certain number of times, which will trigger them to do some sort of formation or some trick, or they'll... Put the lawnmowers on two wheels. It's amazing. And it's like the highlight of 4th of July. People in Walmart get so fired up.
Why does Allie love the Fourth of July and how does she describe local parade traditions?
Weeks of practice. So you go to that. And then you eat a hot dog and a snow cone. And you sweat. And it's hot. And then you go get in a pool somewhere. And then about the time you're getting worn out, you get some coffee. You get that second wind. And then fireworks. It's like the best day ever. And I love the 4th of July.
I think Logan fell asleep.
The 4th of July fits your personality perfect. Because when it's 95 and you walk outside and sweat for the 40 steps that you take to your car, you're like, this is amazing.
It's the best.
And I'm like, I want it to be fall already.
Okay. Well, I don't know. Something about it. And I think some of it, too, is... You get to see so many different people. Like, oftentimes, I'll go to the parade with my family. So, I get to spend some time with my family. And then, inevitably, I'll go to a Fourth of July cookout at a friend's house. And I'll see my friends. And then, in the evening, I'll probably go to a different party and see a different friend. I don't know, throughout the day I'm going to see like 10 different people that I love dearly in the sunshine. And I'm probably going to forget to put sunscreen on and I'm going to burn. And it's going to be amazing. And maybe I'll light a firework because that's also a highlight.
And one time at band camp, we weren't supposed to have pillow fights, but we had a pillow fight and it was so much fun.
