Welcome back. Another edition of DIY Money.
DIY Money. What's shaking? Hey, howard? Logan, we're rolling into the new year.
We are rolling into the new year for sure. Coming in hot. Do you have any big goals for the new year?
I was going to ask you that, Tabun.
Oh, no.
What do the hosts discuss in the episode intro and New Year goals?
You told me to lead the episode, so you get to answer my question.
You've got to be kidding me. I was getting a little bit of a little roast a few episodes ago from Quint about starting a goal and then not finishing it.
Well, no. So here's your thing. You do start the goals, and every time you finish them, but you finish them. You're like, 30 days, okay, now no more goal.
Do you know what the Enneagram is? Yeah. So I'm a three on the Enneagram. For those who don't know what that is, it means I like to check things off.
Checkboxes and making lists changed my life.
And so if I do a goal for a month, and I check it off, It's checked. We don't have to revisit that. Water? That was a July thing. Check.
Ain't nobody got time for that. So you just stopped drinking water any other time except for July?
I haven't drank water since July.
That's not true.
How do the hosts describe personal goal-setting and Enneagram differences?
Very concerning. Yeah, no, my Enneagram is probably whatever the opposite of checking boxes off is, for those that know me. I'm not a checkbox person, but that's why I have you and Daniel.
I feel like you're a six. Do you know what your Enneagram is?
I don't know the numbers. I'm like the campaigner or whatever.
That's the ENFP, or the Myers-Briggs.
Oh, there's so many tests.
Do you have four letters? You go on the site, and there's all the little green dudes, and they all... Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, that's Myers-Briggs. Okay, so there's another one.
Yeah, we don't have time to hash them all out.
We have 100 of these tests.
Okay. But I think you're the loyalist, just for the record. Well, do you have any goals?
What?
Can we bring it back to that? Okay, all right, all right. Goals for next year. For one, Daniel gave me an awesome Christmas gift. Handmade knitted socks. And I am going to read a book about goals and set some better goals. Hey, there you go.
That's nice.
I am toying with the idea. For context, it is the 20th of December, not two days before the end of the year. And so when you hear this and think she really hasn't figured out her goals yet, that's bad. I have 10 more days, 11 more days. um i'm thinking about reading through the bible in a year i always as a kid would start those plans and then never actually make it past like second kings i would lose steam about there well it is you gotta gotta power through that i'm on my last week of my first time doing that how did that go it went great it was fantastic how did you get through the ot slump or are you an ot guy
Um, I know it's, it is hard, but I, my, my, um, one year Bible does a Old Testament, New Testament, Psalm and Proverbs all like, that's your day. Each day is like that. That broke it up quite a bit. Yeah. I would recommend doing it that way. Cause if you're just like flying through numbers, you're going to have some issues.
I think I'm going to do it chronologically, which, so the Bible, this is a random, like, whatever, we're here, we're doing it. Technically, like, if you read it, Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, like, straight through the order of your Bible, it's not the order that things happened. And so I think I'm going to do the order that things happened, where you, like, skip to Job and then back up and... So it'll be interesting. I, yeah, like I said, I tried it a few years ago, lost steam, but this year I'm like, I want to do it. I've never read it consecutively. I just feel like that's something I should do. And I'm hoping to do it slow enough that I can like listen to a podcast that does like a daily breakdown following the same plan and then maybe get some like cultural understanding.
So it's not just like a random list of names.
