DIY Money. We're shaking a Howard. Wow. Happy New Year. Crazy end of the year. Happy New Year to you. Not a lot is new. I feel like right now we're cutting this episode the two days before Christmas. But I want to pretend like it's a new year. So we're in the holiday shuffle. Oh, yes, of course. Happy New Year.
Quint 0:38
Happy New Year. 2025.
Allie Howard 0:38
Tomorrow, this comes out New Year's Eve.
Quint 0:41
Oh, okay.
Allie Howard 0:42
I think. I don't know. Hard to keep track of.
Quint 0:43
No problem.
Allie Howard 0:45
How'd your year finish? What's new with you?
Quint 0:47
So thanks for asking. It was a great 2024. We are cutting this. All right, let me revert back to what's legit now. It is December 23rd. There it is. You know, I looked back today as I was pulling in. There was a season in my career where right before Thanksgiving— I would literally this was before we worked from laptops and plugged into docking stations and stuff, which is so awesome. But I would take my computer home and I would work from home from like a week before Thanksgiving through the new year. I would come in if I needed to have a meeting, obviously, but that's just what I did. And now, I mean, I'm pulling into the office parking lot on December 23rd, and I'm like, yeah, there's no, like, take the computer home and work from home.
Quint 1:41
I mean, my point is, is that it's just, it's been jam-packed from January 1 through the end. Now, I love that. I don't want, I know people are like, oh, I talk to people, you know the busy answer people? Like, hey, how are you? Busy, busy, just busy. I'm like, why so busy? Like what? And it's a it's a like I challenged myself because I know some people like that. Anytime I ask them, how are you doing? It doesn't matter. It could be January. It could be June. It could be November.
Unknown 2:12
How busy would you say you are on a scale of eight to nine?
Quint 2:15
And it's like, oh, so busy, so busy. And I thought to myself, I don't know if I say that, but I'm going to stop saying that.
Unknown 2:24
Are you busy, busy or just busy?
Quint 2:27
How are you doing? Productive. No, that's cheesy. I'm just saying I'm grateful for the opportunity to do the things that we have to do. And this year was an amazing year. We're rolling in. I'm rolling in to probably the biggest goal that I've had for years. a very long time, not a tangible financial goal or something along those lines, but this running goal that I've talked to people to death about. That race is coming up on January the 11th. Uh, it's, we just finished our hardest week. Now we're starting to taper. I've never tapered in my life. Like that's a new thing for me. And it's just amazing. And I will say for those that are really keeping up a few weeks ago, I told Logan, I was like, I just don't see it.
Quint 3:17
Like I'm, I'm struggling mentally. I have come so far from that last episode. A lot of it has helped getting through some of these workouts that I also viewed as impossible. And so now I'm mentally there. You're going to have to drag me off that course to not hit the goal that I want to hit. And obviously physical pains, ailments aside, but we just hope all that stuff works out.
Allie Howard 3:45
Yeah, it is so fun. When you were talking about how far you've come and just looking back on the year, I was remembering I started a few years ago at the very end of the year. I usually do it on New Year's Day. I go to a coffee shop for like two or three hours and I make myself read through my journal for the year. And it's really cool because every year I'll catch things that I said or did early in the year and be like, wow, I was so worried about that. And it all worked out. We're like, oh, I was like... That was such a crazy thing to say. And now I've grown so much and I can see that that's not the perspective I should have had. And so if you don't do something like that, it's really changed the way I view kind of an end of year wrap up.
