You know, Allie, since we're rolling into the end of the year, I think it's wise for us to talk about goals for 2026.
Allie Howard 0:29
That's crazy, first of all. How are we already at the end of 25?
Quint (host) 0:33
Oh, let me tell you, the older you get, the faster they'll go. I mean, I feel like we were just in 2019.
Allie Howard 0:38
I told Logan the other day, it should be April. Like, I really believe that. In my head, it's April.
Lisa (Mommy/Host) 0:44
I bet when you walk outside every morning, you don't think it's April.
Quint (host) 0:48
Yeah, it's not.
Allie Howard 0:49
Just saying.
Quint (host) 0:50
It's December and we're going to be rolling into January soon.

Why are Quint and Allie talking about setting goals for 2026 right now?

Allie Howard 0:53
Our newsflash. It's December?
Quint (host) 0:55
But I think, I hope, I really do. I hope that if you're listening to this podcast and you've been listening to this podcast for a long time, I hope that over the last couple of weeks or months, you have been thinking about your goals for 2026. If not, there's no time like the present, right? You know the best time to plant a tree?
Allie Howard 1:16
This is good.
Quint (host) 1:17
Allie Howard 1:17
There it is.
Quint (host) 1:18
You know the second best time? Right now. That's right. So that's what we're going to talk about today, because I have learned over my life and I share this with anybody that will listen. If you do not have something you're striving towards, if you do not have goals in your life. it can be difficult to stay positive, to stay motivated, to stay energized when life brings you down. Because life is going to bring you down. That's real simple. You're a wise man, my friend. And having goals, having things that you're striving towards, no matter the age, I think it's even more important the older you get, is so critical. Absolutely critical. And people that I have come across over my life who are... I'm going to use this term loosely, successful.
Quint (host) 2:13
Everybody in their mind has a picture of success of something different. I'm going to say someone who is well-rounded, well-balanced, and they're sort of fruit in their life in some capacity. whether that's family, whether that's their profession, whether that's their fitness level, whatever it is, there's fruit, there's positive good fruit that is coming from their actions. And those people that I have met, that doesn't just happen. You don't wake up and all of a sudden, oh, I just stumbled into a great life. You have goals. You set goals. You are doing baby steps towards those goals. You might be changing those goals as time goes on. So long ago, I say that I came up with this. Maybe I read it. I don't know.
Quint (host) 3:08
I own it now. Like I say I did it. I mean, I do. I mean, I take ownership of it. or it's at least what I've been doing in my life, is setting goals based on five different categories. And for simplicity, I call them the five F's. It's easy to remember. And they're prioritized in the following order. Number one, a faith goal. Number two, a family goal, or that could be relationships if you are not in a family, meaning you don't have wife or husband or children, etc., Number three is fitness. Number four is finance or finances. And then number five, friendship, my friends. And I try to sit down and I do this. And I recently did this with a very close, one of my very best friends when we were spending some time together.
Quint (host) 4:03
We took one night and instead of sitting on the couch watching TV, we sat on the couch and talked about Our goals for 2026 and we kind of brushstroked it because we hadn't yet really thought about it. I told him of some things I was thinking about. He told me some things he was thinking about. We helped each other kind of refine some of those goals, but we set those goals. And the next step for me, this is very, very important. And I'm happy to share some of the goals within reason, I guess, because some of them are pretty personal. But the next step is you have to keep them in front of you. If you do not keep your goal in front of you,
