DIY Money. DIY Money. Oh, Brandy in the house. This is amazing. We have a very special episode for you guys today. Money in Marriage, the second one in the series. But today we have Quint and Brandy in. Brandy, your first time on the podcast. And from what I heard, you're just thrilled. I mean, you are super excited about this day.
I am super, super excited to be here, Logan. Can you not tell? Brandy is fantastic at sarcasm.
So this is going to go really, really well today. We're going to dive into a little bit of everything and how you guys got started on your journey as well as how the journey is going at this present time because you had a lot of life change that happens. And with that, how you manage money changes significantly as well. But we wanted to do this series and make sure that we could give you guys insights to the good, the bad, and the ugly that comes with from managing money as a couple and managing money through marriage. So we're going to start out this, you know, last week we talked, me and Hannah, and this week, Quint and Brandy. We have another couple that's going to come on the next episode. And then we're going to talk to Allie about what's going on in her single life and how she's managing money as well.
So Quint, I want to start off and you and Brandy just talk a little bit about how money management looks right now. What does that look like?
Yeah, thanks, Logan. So first of all, I think this is such an important subject matter. I know that many people, you know, challenges in relationships and marriage, and when we were writing the DIY Money book long ago, I was trying to find the actual statistic that so many people cite, that money is the number one cause of divorce. I could not find that. There was no study that's been done. However... When you dig into the studies that have been done that go through the divorce decrees and what has been mentioned as whether it's adultery or what type of conflict, money is the number one item that is mentioned in the divorce decrees or whatever those are called and why people are being separated. I believe that money and really the conflict that arises from money, the challenges that arise from money is what's destroying one of the key elements of the fact that what's destroying the family today.
So I'm very passionate about this. I thought you and Hannah, I mean, it's amazing to see your journey, to hear your journey. And I know that our guests will be delighted to hear John and Carol, 60 plus years in marriage. How it looks today is still evolving, right? And I chuckle a little bit because within the last 24 hours, we had some conflict around money that we normally don't have. But it also goes to the root. Maybe Brandy will talk a little bit about this. Maybe not. But it goes to the root of psychology of money and how we both have different money blueprints and kind of money backgrounds. But we don't do it much differently than we talk about on the podcast. I definitely wear the CFO hat. I track the expenses.
I constantly ask for the receipts. That's always an interesting subject. And, you know, then we but we set goals and we have business meetings and we talk about where we're going. And Brandy has full access to, you know, all of the information and and sort of knows, I think, where all things are and where all the accounts are and sort of how things flow and so forth. And, you know, we don't it's kind of on I hate to say it this way, but it's sort of on autopilot to a degree right now. There isn't that much we dialogue about on any given day. But that's that's in my opinion where we're at. I'd be interested to hear what what Brandy says.
Yeah, Brandi, tell me a little bit more about this autopilot that happens because I know Quint tracks every single penny.
