Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. You're listening to another edition of DIY Money. DIY Money. Logan in the house. In his house.
Quint (host) 0:20
Hey, before I ask you about your life, actually, I probably won't. We'll just skip right over that. I want to talk about the DIY community. Yes. Real quick. I love it. Because I just had one of the greatest experiences DIY community experiences that I've had in a very, very long time. And it really saddens me a little bit that I didn't get a chance. If you remember, and I was on with Allie, when I was preparing to go abroad and there was someone who reached out and they were like, hey, if you're here, would love to connect. And I was like, yes, would love to connect. And The individual's in the military, and they teach, like, financial education and yada yada. And then it just never happened. It just, I mean, it was a little more difficult to, like, get to another country.
Quint (host) 1:04
And I'm sure he would have been amenable, like, to come down. It just, anyways, it was difficult. So, unfortunately, that didn't happen. But allow me to tell you what did happen this past weekend. So, drop the oldest off at Auburn. Boom. Moved him in the whole nine yards coming back. It's about an eight hour trip. My wife and I had a weekend like we never get this a weekend of nothing going on. Wow. And so we decided to stop in Chattanooga. Have you ever been to Chattanooga? One time, yeah, to the aquarium. It's fire. Chattanooga has got it going on. I am so impressed with Chattanooga. I knew nothing about Chattanooga. My wife informed me that, like, years ago we both ran a 5K there or something. Don't remember that at all.
Quint (host) 1:53
Nothing about Chattanooga. But anyways, rolled into Chattanooga, got an Airbnb. uh it was a great you know place to be to stay yada yada they've got amazing restaurants but i tell you this to say the following i had a long run on saturday morning okay uh training plan called for 20 gazillion miles okay friends of mine are like oh you'll love there's a river walk it goes for 20 gazillion miles so that's going to be perfect there's probably some like There's some construction, and you've got to sometimes navigate. And you know me. I'm like, if the map thing on my phone is not talking to me, I'm going to get lost. I'll get lost in this office building. I mean, my sense of direction is terrible. So right off the bat, I'm like, well, I guess I'm going to be finding a mile road and running up and down 20 gazillion times because I'm not even going to take the chance.
Quint (host) 2:46
But... I have this friend of mine, well, friend, social acquaintance via Strava. Strava is an app for runners, cyclists, whatever, crazy people that want to post their runs. And I've got a group of friends on there, hold each other accountable. And a while back, I talked about this and I got a slew of new followers. I'm assuming they were DIY, you know, friends and listeners and so forth. one of which I gave a shout-out to because husband and wife team, dynamic duo who just ran Boston, they actually sent me an email saying they were doing a hill workout, which is terrible, and they heard their shout-out, and it helped them to get through the workout, which was awesome. That just felt like running.
Quint (host) 3:27
I just felt like running. So, as I'm going through Strava over the last couple of weeks, this guy keeps showing up in my stream, Blake. Shout out to Blake, who is a ridiculous runner. He's phenomenal. Of course, he's 20 years younger than me. Actually, 21, because I just had a birthday. 21 years younger than I am, but a great runner in... Chattanooga. There you go.
Quint 3:49
Right?
Quint (host) 3:50
So... Isn't it Chattanooga? I don't know at this point, this is a week ago, if I know Blake from like somewhere else or... Because, you know, it's like, oh, he could be a friend of somebody that I run with and, you know, they follow me and we connect. So that person connects.
