How do Quint and Logan introduce the episode and listener call-to-action?
Hey, this is Daniel. Thanks for listening to DIY Money. If you haven't already, be sure to give us a five-star review on iTunes so your friends know that they can learn from the show. Now, enjoy the show.
Welcome back. Ladies and gentlemen, you're listening to another edition of DIY Money.
DIY Money. Logan. In the his house. What's up, my man? You know, it's springtime. I have gotten out, and I'm now into smoking meats.
Oh, wow.
That's my thing. I'm trying to do all kinds of different stuff. So I have... Your smile is not good. I'm sorry. It just sounds weird.
Yeah. Yeah.
What early show banter and listener engagement prompts set the episode tone?
Just smoking meats. I do some pulled pork. What are you doing in the springtime?
I want to shift gears real quick. Come back to your smoking of the meats. I don't know why I just got cracked up over that. These guys think they're funny. But they're really just like stupid. But we need questions. I'll tell you that's what we need in the spring. I was just informed that we're down to like a dozen or so questions left in our queue. So listen, I know the stats, by the way. We just ticked the highest 90-day delinquencies in auto loans ever. People are stretched. So if you want a quick $25 on Amazon, like bam, send us an audio file question. Jump on your smartphone. Record an audio. Quint, Logan, Allie, I'm broke. I don't know what to do. How do I save money? How do I whatever? What should I do about this?
Send us that question. We'll answer it, and we'll send you a $25 Amazon gift card. Let's get that queue up. Absolutely. Up. For sure. Because we need more listeners.
And some of the questions we've gotten recently are fantastic. So people have good questions out there. And I'm sure in this difficult time with everything that's going on in the world, people have questions. And you know what I want?
I want the basics. We can drone on all the time about back to basics, and we could do episodes about that. But if you're out there and you're like, I don't even know what a Roth IRA is. Hmm. Send us that question. It will make it on the show.
Absolutely.
Or you're like, hey, I just started a new job and they offered an HSA. You've talked about it, but what is an HSA? Those are the questions I would love to circle back around and answer. So all that to say, we have an interesting question today from Ashley regarding real estate.
How do the hosts request listener questions and offer a $25 incentive?
Ashley, what do you got?
D!
Hello, DIY Money. My name is Ashley and I'm from Nashville, Tennessee. I'm a big fan and have been listening to you all for years. Thank you so much for all the great insights. I wanted to get your thoughts on our current housing situation in Nashville, Tennessee. The market has been quite challenging. My husband and I, along with our toddler, are looking for a bigger space since we plan to grow our family within the next two years. Right now, we own our home, which is about 800 square footage with two bedrooms in it and one bathroom. Our mortgage is around $1,300 a month. However, the homes we're considering that are bigger in the Nashville area are at the top of our budget with monthly payments ranging from $2,500 to $3,000 a month.
something we're not entirely comfortable with since we're really enjoying the financial freedom of a smaller mortgage now. Would it be wiser to wait and hope interest rates drop or should we consider adding on to our home since we do have the land to expand? I really appreciate any advice you can share. Thank you so much.
Oh, my gosh. I just love her accent. I know. It's fantastic. Oh, I mean, just awesome. Men are easily amused. Thanks so much for the question and the kind comments about the show. Ashley, I'll let Logan get into some particulars, but I'll tell you something. And I know that a lot of our audience feels this every day. And maybe you have at one time in your life felt this. There is nothing worse than financial stress. Nothing. You don't sleep well. You think about it constantly. Whatever it was that you did that got you into that situation, whether it was you or you lost a job or whatever, if it's a house, you look around and all of a sudden you hate it.
