What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
Most people don't realize how much of their personal information is being bought and sold every day. Data brokers are making billions pulling details about you from public records and the internet, then packaging and selling it, usually without your consent. That's how your information lands in the hands of scammers, spammers, even stalkers. That's where Aura comes in. And even up to $5 million in identity theft insurance. All backed by 24-7 U.S.-based fraud support. Other companies might just sell credit monitoring or just a VPN. Aura gives you all of that together at the same price competitors charge for just one service. Start your free trial today at aura.com slash prevent. Protect yourself now at aura.com slash prevent.

Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. You're listening to another edition of DIY Money.
DIY Money. Hey, Howard. Made it through one episode.
Okay, what's going on in your life? Give me an update, not to do with snow, not to do with hiking. What is your resolution that you're proceeding with in 2026? Because you always have some unique things you're striving towards.
Yes. I think I've shared this on the pod before, but I'm trying to do 750 hours outside. Have I told you this?
Not at all.
What?
This is exactly what I was looking for.
All right. So random. Have you heard of the thousand hours outside challenge?
No, no.
It's like a homeschool mom thing. Okay. But the idea is like getting kids off their phone, getting them outside.
Love it.
And I don't know that, I mean, everyone has a little bit of a phone addiction. I'm not going to act like I don't like the rest of the world, but I'm better about it than most. But I feel like I'm so tempted at night to like sit on the couch and doom scroll on Instagram or whatever it is. So I decided, I was like, I'm going to do a thousand hours outside. And then I started doing the math. And I was like, well, I do have a full-time job. So I don't know. But I landed on 750 hours, mostly because in the summer I do a lot of camping and that kind of thing. So I'll catch up. So far it's been going terribly. Because we had two weeks that I went outside. I was doing morning walks. I was glowing. I mean, I felt amazing.
And then the snowpocalypse happened. And now the wind chill. I almost went for a walk today at lunch because it was 25. So I was like, okay, I can do it. And then the wind chill was 11. I'm not going outside when it's 11. So, yeah, I haven't made a lot of progress on that. But as soon as it warms back up and the sidewalks in my neighborhood aren't iced over, I will be returning to my 750 hours and I will make up time. Then it will be too hot. It's going to happen.
So I did the quick math. It's two hours a day.
Yes.
That is a lot.
It is a lot.
Especially when it's raining and cold and miserable. But yeah, you can make it up if you're like, oh, I got eight hours.
You know, I'm going to go on some weekend camping trips and there's 36 hours each time I go. So it'll be, it's going to work out.
What is the episode about and who are the hosts introducing today’s topic?
How are you tracking this?
So I printed out the thousand hours thing is like a website you can go to. So I printed one of those out and I just know that I won't fill up the whole thing, but there's like little pictures and each picture is made up of a bunch of little squares and dots and shapes. And so I picked one that tracks by the hundred. So like there's a section and like you get that section that's a hundred. So I know where I need to get to. And so I fill in the little dots, which is kind of awesome.
You never disappoint with your goals. I mean, it's, it's really, I, you know, it's amazing. Like I, it doesn't, that is exactly on brand for you. I love it. All right. Well, I'll check back in. And now that I know I have a year to hold you accountable.
Like another month and then I'll start catching up.
Okay.
Because I'm at, I'm not even going to lie, today is February the 4th.
