Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. You're listening to another edition of DIY Money. DIY Money. All right, Allie, I've talked too much about myself the last couple episodes. Give us a quick update about what's going on in your life now that we're into the summer, or we're pretty close to it. I guess we're not summer solstice just yet.
I'm trying to remember what's happened since you left. Oh, okay. Actually, I have an update on my garden. I was just about to ask about the garden.
I'm so mad about this.
I actually haven't told Logan this because I haven't seen him since it happened. So I've been watering my garden. I started to get things come up. It was amazing. I had some dahlias coming up. My vegetables were looking great. I had a sunflower. You could tell it was going to be like, this was going incredibly. Last week, I went to water my garden. And when I went, I drag out the hose, whatever, start to water. There are holes where my plants used to be. And I was like, what in the world? So I'm standing there and the first thought was, oh, an animal has come and ripped up my garden bed. That's on brand. We all saw this coming, which I even prefaced. And then I was like, no, this is, these are so intentional.
How did Allie's garden disaster kick off the episode?
This is not like an animal that just went rampage. This was, someone did this. So then I'm standing there and I'm like, Who are my haters? Like, who would do this to me? I start to think. And about then I looked up and across the complex area, whatever, housing area, I see a man with one of those backpacks with weed killer in it walking around. And I said, are you kidding me? So I went over to him. I was very confrontational in this moment. I was like, hey, man, do you take care of that garden over there? He was like, yeah. I was like, those are not weeds. You just pulled up all of the stuff in my garden. And so he obviously was like, oh, it wasn't me. Okay, pal, whatever. I was like, okay, well, like, can you make a note on the record?
Like, that's my garden bed. I have a lot of stuff in there right now. Not everything has bloomed. More will come up. All the things. Oh, I don't really know. Okay. Are you hired by the HOA? He's like, yes. I was like, I will reach out to the HOA. Thank you so much. walk away, decided I was going to go water because there is still a few things that haven't come up. I start watering again. About 10 minutes later, a truck pulls up and four men get out of this truck and walk over to me. And they're like, what's going on? I explained the whole thing to them. I'm like, you can't just rip up someone's garden. So now all that to say, I replanted on Sunday what they dug up and I've been really frustrated about it.
Now Hallie is going to starve. I don't understand. Like, is there not a clear, like, if I go to your backyard. Oh, it's a raised garden bed. So why, you mean they dug it up or they sprayed? I don't understand.
They ripped it out like it was a weed. So like my tomato plant, for example. It's a raised bed. Which is a foot tall at a trellis. I was starting to go up the trellis. They ripped it out like it was a weed and like threw it. In the grass.
Do other people have random raised beds where they don't have?
Not really because we're on the corner lot. So it's the only raised bed, at least in this area. I think you need to put flags. It's a raised bed. Oh, I put flags. Now everything is labeled like plant labels stuck in the ground. My mom's going to make me a sign with her little cricket machine. It's going to be very passive-aggressive.
Oh, my.
But, yeah, someone ripped up my tomato plant.
That is ridiculous.
I did. I recovered a few of the big things, like the tomato plant, some of the peppers. We're still in one piece, so I replanted them. That is so weird. And I'm hoping they make it. Okay.
But I was livid. I would be, too.
That's my update. That doesn't make any sense whatsoever. All right.
