Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. You're listening to another edition of DIY Money. DIY Money. How was your 24-hour New York trip?
It was insane. I think I told you this. We ended up extending it. We had three days total in that area, but the middle day we went to Connecticut, so we had 24 hours in New York and then 24 hours in New York. I think we walked, like, If I were to guess, a million steps.
Did you do any of the Tatro itinerary?
If I'm being really honest, you went through it so fast that I got lost. I had a lot of people... And I did go back and listen. I've seen the Statue of Liberty before, and that was a big chunk of yours, so we decided to nix that. And mostly, my friend... planned like the whole trip. I was the like, I'll show up with a backpack and hope for the best. So I felt like by the time I was like ready to think about it, she had a great plan. So no Staten Island ferry. No Staten Island ferry. Although we did see the Statue of Liberty from very far away on the Brooklyn Bridge. Yeah. So we saw it kind of. Yeah. Yeah. But we did the Staten Island thing when I did my New York trip with my senior trip many moons ago. So I felt like for me, I was okay with not seeing it up close again.
Well, remember, the Staten Island, for those listening, Staten Island Ferry does not go to the Statue of Liberty. Staten Island Ferry just goes from lower Manhattan.
But you see it closer. Yeah. Yeah, that's what I mean.
But it's a great, for those of you ever going to New York, if you want an easy way to see the beautiful skyline of lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty, which you do get, the Staten Island Ferry is a great free way to do that. But did you get to the World Trade Center?
We didn't go in the World Trade Center, but we did the 9-11 memorial. Yeah, that's what I mean. And saw it. Yeah, yeah.
So the fountains and so forth.
Yes. Yeah. Which is so breathtaking. Oh, it's unbelievable. That's one of my favorite, like, memorials that exists because it's just beautifully done and just, like, everyone's just silent because it just hits you.
It's amazing. Like, it's wild. Yeah.
So we did do that very quickly. Basically, Sarah gave me... like a three hour window that she was like, I don't have anything planned. Was there anything else from last time you did? That was awesome. And I was like, okay. And it was, it was a very a Howard of me, but we were on our train coming back from Connecticut. And I was like, okay, Sarah, here's the plan. We have to be at our dinner reservation at five 30. So we need to be back at the hotel at four 30. And then we need to do this by four. We got to move by three 30, which means we didn't take this train. And I was like, wizard mathing all this in my head. And she was like, okay, Allie, whatever.

Well, I'm glad you had a great time. That's amazing. Amazing city in about 48 hours is about the most I can do in New York.

I felt like I was ready to go. And I won't tell the long version of this story, but we got out just in time. Did you see the snowstorm? Yes. Like all the flights got grounded. It was like stay at home order. Everyone was freaking out. The locals were like, you guys need to go home. Get out of here while you can. So we ended up, we ditched our flight. I don't think you know this. We were supposed to fly back Sunday.
