Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
The debate could go on for days. I'm Carmen Roberts, Fox News. President Trump's pressuring the Senate to pass the Save America Act as members debate the measure during a rare weekend session. The bill would require proof of citizenship and voter IDs and make other changes. Fox's Chad Pergram is on Capitol Hill.
Chapter 2: What is the Save America Act and why is it controversial?
President Trump declared that it, quote, should be easy to pass the Save America Act. Now Fox is told that Senate Majority Leader John Thune could try to end debate that needs 68. Well, we haven't made any final decisions about how to conclude this. Republicans believe they can morph Democratic opposition to the bill into an election issue this fall.
Democrats accuse Republicans of focusing on the wrong things.
I'm ticked off like Americans are. They're saying I'm seeing my costs skyrocket. I'm barely making ends meet. And what is the Senate doing? They're debating some stupid voter suppression bill as opposed to dealing with the war that's driving up my costs.
That was Democratic Senator Cory Booker. Congress has yet to fund DHS, leading to long security lines at airports.
And it's all because TSA workers are not getting paid, and many are reporting not being able to pay for basics like gas, rent, and food. Certainly a tough situation out there in Oahu. Rain totals just in the last 24 hours getting anywhere from close to 10 inches up to a foot of total rain. And remember, if you look back over the last two weeks or so, there between the 10th and the 16th, the area saw anywhere from 25 up to 50 inches of rain. So that ground is absolutely saturated.
The last 24 hours worth of rain, that obviously just makes the situation a whole lot worse.
