Chapter 2: What immigration plan did President Trump propose for Minnesota?
The White House lays out a plan by President Trump to perhaps bring relative calm to Minnesota while still deporting illegal immigrants. Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt says the key is for Republicans and Democrats to work together.
And for state and local law enforcement to work together with federal law enforcement. We want to let cops be cops.
Levitt spoke to reporters today after President Trump chatted via phone with Governor Tim Walz.
President Trump says he and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz seem to be on a similar wavelength during the phone call today. The president says he's dispatching Border Czar Tom Homan to manage immigration operations in Minnesota, a move that follows bipartisan criticism of the deadly shooting over the weekend of a Minnesota man by a Border Patrol agent.
In a Truth Social post, President Trump says he told the governor that the administration is looking for any and all criminals in their possession. At the White House, Jared Halpern, Fox News.
Fox reports that ICE Commander Greg Bovino and some Border Patrol agents are leaving Minneapolis as soon as tomorrow. More than 600,000 customers are without power from Texas to West Virginia.
